I finished this piece a couple of days ago and it took some time to absorb and appreciate what just happened.

Her, baptized “Violetta” by the community, represents the strength, courage and dedication of all women, the obstacles they overcome and the difficulties they face.
Painted here though, is a homage to Venezuela. Not a woman but a country, the one that underneath years of hardship taught me, still has the most beautiful essence, it’s people.

In one of Venezuela’s slums, El Calvario, amongst some of the best current artists, it’s a humbling experience to say, that I left a piece of me. Beyond everything I learned, I hope this will bring a smile to the community when they walk by, and inspires them to keep fighting.

Thank you to the kids, and every little hand that touched the wall. The neighbors that gifted us, soup, sodas, water, and cookies for reminding us, you can never have too little to give and share.

Termine este mural hace unos días, y tuve que tomar un tiempo para absorber lo que sucedió.

Ella bautizada “Violetta” por la comunidad, representa la fuerza, coraje y dedicación de todas las mujeres, los obstáculos y dificultades que enfrentan diariamente. Aunque, pintada aquí es un homenaje a Venezuela. No una mujer sino un país, que en estos días me enseño, por debajo de todos los golpes y maltratos todavía es dueña de la esencia más hermosa, su gente.

En uno de sus barrios, el Calvario, entre algunos de los mejores artistas venezolanos, me enorgullece decir que deje una parte de mi. Más allá de mi aprendizaje, espero regalarles una sonrisa e inspirarlos a seguir luchando.

Gracias a los niños, y a todos los que tocaron la pared. A los vecinos por regalarnos tanto con tan poquito y recordarnos que no necesitamos tener mucho para dar.
